Why It was important to stay apart of england
People had many family members who were big contributors to England. They would be disgracing their families if they went against the British. They were appreciative of the opportunities for land and jobs while still feeling close ties to the "mother country". Also, most people living there at the time were wealthy, so taxes and such weren't really a problem. A lot of slaves joined the Loyalists side, too, because Britain promised them freedom. Everyone just assumed Britain would win, so they wouldn't have to worry about losing their homes, figuring they’d win.
